Program Overview
In partnership with the British Council, the University of Bradford is offering five fully funded scholarships specifically for women from select countries in Wider Europe. These awards support talented women to pursue a one-year Master’s degree in STEM fields at a leading UK university. The initiative aims to boost gender diversity in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics while empowering participants to drive positive change in their home countries upon return.
Eligibility Criteria
To qualify for the Women in STEM Scholarships at the University of Bradford, applicants must:
- Identify as a woman (per UK legal definition)
- Be a permanent resident and hold a valid passport/travel document from one of the following eligible countries: Albania, Azerbaijan, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Kazakhstan, Kosovo, North Macedonia, Montenegro, Serbia, Türkiye (Turkey), Uzbekistan
- Be able to secure a UK student visa with existing documentation
- Commit to returning to your home country (or country of residence) for at least two years after the program ends (unless exceptional unsafe circumstances apply)
- Meet the University of Bradford’s academic and English language entry requirements for your chosen Master’s course
- Have completed (or be on track to complete by enrollment) an undergraduate degree
- Show genuine financial need: unable to self-fund studies in the UK and not receiving duplicative funding from other sources (modest personal savings to supplement are allowed)
- Have strong academic motivation and ability to succeed in a UK postgraduate taught program
- Show active engagement or proven interest in STEM (through work, projects, or experience)
- Plan to contribute to socio-economic development and capacity building in your home country after graduation
- Agree to stay connected with the British Council, serve as a UK ambassador, and participate in alumni activities
- Demonstrate enthusiasm for encouraging more women and girls in STEM back home
- Consent to personal data sharing with the British Council for evaluation and promotion
