About the Program

Named in honor of Dr. E. Dorrit Hoffleit, a legendary Yale astronomer who spent over 50 years in the department, directed summer programs at Maria Mitchell Observatory, and inspired generations (especially young women) in astronomy through her work on major star catalogs and teaching. She received the George Van Biesbroeck Prize for lifetime service to the field.

This summer fellowship lets selected undergraduates join Yale faculty for hands-on astronomy research projects. It’s a fantastic way to gain real lab/field experience, collaborate on cutting-edge topics, and strengthen your profile for grad school in astronomy, astrophysics, physics, or related areas.

Eligibility Requirements

  • Undergraduate major in Astronomy, Astrophysics, or Physics
